Information for Prospective Members

The information below will hopefully answer the main questions you may have in considering joining Didsbury LTC.

Am I eligible to join?
Everyone is welcome, as long as we have room. Your standard of play does not matter, provided you are able to serve and to keep a simple rally going in social play. You can join straightaway, or you can play up to three times as a visitor @ £2 per session before deciding whether you wish to join.
When can I play?
Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings throughout the year are reserved for social play - these are the best times for getting to know people. Some members also play socially on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and all are welcome to join them. Some retired members play on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10:00am; again anyone is welcome to join them. We reserve evenings between 4pm and 6:30pm and Saturday mornings for Juniors, but the courts are not locked and available for members' play at any other time. From May to July matches are played most Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and sometimes on a Friday - during which one court remains available subject to permission of the team captains.
Do I need to book a court?
No; and in social sessions we play a set and then mix people around. Everyone who turns up gets a game.
What courts do you have?
The Club has 4 carpet courts, all with floodlighting.
What competitive tennis does the Club run?
In summer we run four Gents and three Ladies teams in the North-East Cheshire league, and in winter we run three Mixed teams. We run the club tournament in September.
Can I get coaching?
The Club Coach is Feri Hooshyar ( 445 7155 ). Coaching is mainly for Juniors but we also run adult sessions according to demand. Ring either Feri or Val Hempstock ( Junior Secretary - 445 2529 ) with any coaching queries you may have.
What social events are there?
During the summer we have occasional fun `American’ tournaments with barbecue/hotpot lunches or suppers; other social events take place from time to time.
What does it cost to join?
Full membership is currently £140 p.a. (April to March). You should check with the Membership Secretary about concessions (e.g. for students or if you join during the membership year). Please also note that, if you play under floodlights, you will be asked to contribute to the lighting costs.
